Sheboygan River Update

Hello everyone and Happy St. Patrick’s day! Well it’s been a crazy couple of years and yes I’m still here and still guiding. I hope everyone has been safe and healthy over the past two years, it’s been tough for sure. Guiding during the height of the pandemic was really weird, no grip and grin with clients etc…some people were very concerned while others not so much. Anyhow hopefully this will be over quickly. Next topic!

Spring is here but fishing has a long way to go, river is full of ice and there are limited access points but that will change quickly with this warmer weather. Steelhead should make their way into the system in the coming weeks and I think April into May will be the best time for steel. Last year we had a few really nice holdover brown trout, I can’t imagine how they navigate all the ice coming down the river, but they do. Inland trout fishing is picking up a little bit. Streamers and nymphs have been the ticket but the caddis and BWO’s should make an appearance in the near future. Please call me for an up to the minute report if you like.

In case you didn’t notice Tie 1 On has made a few changes, if you are reading this you should notice my new site! Old site was good but needed an upgrade. I am also happy to announce Sheboygan has a great new shop which I am affiliated with, Aventuron in downtown Sheboygan Wisconsin. I really can’t say enough about Aventuron. They are a family owned business that gives so much to our local TU Chapters and community. Great people with a great mission statement and really good fly fishing selection. They carry everything from Orvis Simms Patagonia Ross TFO Redington T&T Winston and so much more. Contact me and I will be more than happy to give a card that is good for a 15% discount on everything fly fishing at Aventuron! Like I said they are a great shop and want you to become part of their culture and brand and I am more than happy to help out with a little discount at the shop. Anton is the main man to talk to @ Aventuron, he is known as “the Professor” and knows all there is to know, plus he’s a really great guy. Give him a call for sure.

I hope everyone and their families are doing well, it seems as though the pandemic is the “second coming of A River Runs Through It” everyone wants to be outside which is great. I have several dates open for steelhead fishing, I’m hoping the run materializes, it’s always a short window but the rewards can be fantastic. I look forward to hearing from you all and tight lines in 2022, as always let me know if I can help with anything fly fishing related. Tight lines.
