Spring is an ideal time for steelhead with a possibility of a holdover brown trout or two. Autumn is the best time for the Sheboygan Grand Slam (see article in links) Steelhead, Brown trout, Kings and Coho salmon are all entering the river from August till ice up. Summer offers great dry fly fishing on local creeks and smallmouth pike and carp fishing on local rivers.

I just spent a great day on the Onion River with Gordy. He is an absolutely fantastic guy and knows this river like the back of his hand and pointed out places where he knew fish lived/stayed. Multiple times, he said something like "flip your fly up past that rock, if he's there, the fish will hit it as it floats bye" and sure enough, that's exactly what happened. His knowledge really saved me a lot of time and experimentation. Not to mention the Onion River is absolutely beautiful, and we had it all to ourselves.

If you're in the area and want to do some spring creek fishing for Coulee-transplanted browns, give Gordy a call!
